So do I hence one of the reasons I have one - they are the top spec Holden along with LS coupe. But HZ Kingwood 5.0L cars are good cars too as they were a lot rarer that Premiers in 5.0L form, especially so today.

forget the premier, cant stand them. to me a premier is a car that is trying to be a statesman and statesman are shite! the poor mans BMW. the blokes out there with the gink in the wallet want to tell their mates they have a kinga coz everyone knows what a kinga is and everyone has a memory attached to the almighty kinga. In the 6cyl variant and poss the 253 i reckon the kinga would have the wood on a premier; all things being equal. that's my take on it

Premier was always the luxury Holden, it was around for a long time before the Statesman arrived, and it lives on today as the Calais (Statesman is not part of the Holden range, it is a separate LWB vehicle, always has been). Premiers in top condition and heavily optioned will always outsell Standard/Belmont or Special/Kingswood, like a HR Premier 186S 4spd will always trump the same thing in a Special. The only problem with Prems post HQ is they were standard as an auto, and this can remove buyers making a 5.0L 4spd Kingswood more attractive to some.

You are spot on with the Kingswood name, but not because everybody knows what a Kingswood is. They think all Holdens are Kingswoods, you see it all the time, even tonners get called Kingswood. Just a misnomer like many - I don't know how many times my SWB roofless FJ40 got called a Jeep. Or any Holden converted to a 4x4 gets called an Overlander, or stuff like that!

All large Australian Chrysler's get called Valiant's. Same thing.
A good optioned Premier wagon would be a desirable car. Sedans I just don't rate, but it is a personal thing.

Neither are on my radar as a future purchase.

I never intended to buy mine either, but cars like it I rarely see for sale, especially such highly optioned examples in unrestored survivor condition.

I bought a HZ sl kingswood as a parts car, It was factory 253 auto ,GTS dash ,air cond ,power steer. Vinyl roof , I used the steer and am about to put the air cond in the monaro , would have been a nice car new but being a country car the shell will be good for someone down the track , have owned it since 1995 and have kept under a truck tarp and carport ,I hate seeing a car out in the weather.

When you are finished with it, if you don't want the tags i'd love them for my collection if you don't want to keep them.
