Yup, I would worry about the original chassis. As stated by Calbert you can make this one your own.

Both of you raise a valid point, and its and endless list that can come up with of modifications I can do to it, but at the end of the day I'd prefer to have a matching chassis to suit the tags if you know what I mean??
I wouldn't worry about the motor matching, but its not exactley a whole car at the moment, its just a nice van thats lost half its identity.. :/
I'll probably make a decision later on, but at the moment its early days! I haven't even had a chance to clean her out, or even establish which parts are in the back of it... I probably won't even get time to do that until the weekend :(
Cheers,
Matt

WHERE ARE YOU BHZ29069A!?!?!?
Nice pick up mate, and a very good starting point with that body. Minimal cancer is a big bonus as we all know how much they like to rust.
Not being a Sandman and having the wrong chassis just means you don't have to worry about correct parts or whatever. Just do what you want with it.
Look forward to seeing what you do with it.
holy smokes! sometimes i think it would be worth packing up in the west and relocating to rural east coast! you bastards always get crazy good deals in the bush. farrrrrkkkkkk!
well done Grom. you've got an outstanding base to build a crackin van
BQZ
TOP buy and great starting point, look forward to restoHow do you guys find these things?? (must just see a farm and go right in and ask???) (If I asked someone to buy that for $100 bucks they well and truly tell me where to go) Great stuff Enjoy...
Ok i will double your buying price 2 bull bars and $200 dollars i will even throw in a rare hz fuel cap.![]()
Thanks mate!Yeah, I'm still undecided at the moment, but either way it will end up looking like a Sandman
I wouldn't mind if it was a genuine Sandman though, not only cause it would be awsome to own a genuine one
but because a resto on it to factory specs is a challenge, and I'm picky as and love the attention to detail that those resto's require...
Hahaha You could say thathaha
Thanks man! There are some pretty good deals out here in rural areas.. Like I know where there is a certain HZ Premier sedan on another farm that I'm gonna try and buy for parts for the van!
Cheers!I can't wait to get started on her!
All I can say is I have alot of friends that are shearers, truck drivers and other jobs that takes them to the farms.. They pass the message and the details to me, and it goes from there.. and sometimes you just see something sitting there and go and enquire, and they'll open there shed to show you what they have!
Its good, cause most people out here have the 'lend a hand when possible' attitude to every aspect of life, often you end up becoming good friends with them!haha
Thats why I let them offer the price!I never make first offer - unless they insist I do - that way, I don't offend them, and it lets you know how desperate they are to get rid of it...
Hahaha lol Bugger that! She's staying now! I know everyone says it, but this is staying around as long as it possibly can

I've had another quick look at the van, and realised that the rear window has curtains too!I dunno if I'm gonna keep them, but if I do, I'll put new ones in, cause they look really bad at the moment haha
I also found a little more rust in the floorpans - after I filled up a 30-40L bin with leaves, dirt and sticks :/ - but its not as bad as I thought it was gonna be. and its 100 times better than my parts ute floor!haha
Its fixable, and shouldn't be too hard to fix either, now that I can weld! haha
Only bit in the P/S:
The D/S is a tad worse, but its not too bad..
I also found the metal brackets that hold the firewall lace/rubber on (painted ones..) and I cleaned polished and waxed them just to get an idea of what the colour was like originally... and my jaw hit the ground when I seen the colour when it was clean! haha
I had a bit of trouble getting the metallic part of the paint, but its there...
You can see the metallic/glittery bits around the glare in this picture...
I really like the colour, and after seeing it like that, its 90% decided that its going back to the original colour!![]()
