    I don't own one.

I was very pleased to read on another thread, that if you do not own a Sandman, it's ok to be a member here. To me, all Sandman's were created equal, I love them all. The reason I chose my HZ ute was, I had to grow up, complete a trade, and become a cashed up plumber before I could go and buy one. It has been 29 yrs since I sold it and I will probably never own another one. That is because I have absolutely no knowledge of car restoration, and I live in suburbia with a two car garage. I read the thread's here and am amazed at the depth of knowledge people have about these vehicles, and the way they bring them back to life. Thank's to these people the Sandman live's on. I loved my ute, but when I owned it I never pulled it apart, all I did was enjoy it and service it myself. That was the extent of my knowledge. Congratulation's on such a fine site, Long live the Sandman.

Hey Robbo - great post mate, and yes you're right we don't discriminate here.

Although the purpose of the site is to cater for the Holden Sandman it doesn't mean people who do not own them cannot be part of the community here.

Just by our website title we know that we wont get Falcon or Dihatsu questions, but there is more to Sandman's than owners and restorers. It really is an iconic car of the youth culture of the mid 70's in Australia. I only just found a link to our site from an American website detailing Australian History and culture.

    please no Dihatsu photos.

Geez Robbo don't let that stop you from owning another Sandman. I had a new house in Noosaville with only a double garage back in 1999 and completely stripped my old HJ Sandman ute, bought a HX ute from Eumundi wreckers which was completely stripped, re-painted and rebuilt with the parts from the HJ..... all in that double garage. The neighbour wasn't overly impressed with me hammering and grinding till 10:00pm but I kept it to a minimum working after 5:00pm so only a couple of late nights. I also did the whole lot in 4 weeks as I needed the car for work....

Seriously mate, I'm a wood butcher and learn't about restoring cars from watching at panel shops, asking lots of dumb questions and having a go.....

You are half way there being a shit diverter as you should be pretty good with an oxy and welding/brazing.
