It was simply so they could fit the new stripes and Sandman logo, same reason Sanmdan was base model only in HX/Z. The HX/HZ Sandman was no longer a "GTS commercial" like HQ-HJ, it was aiming at a different market. They did stuff it up a bit in HX as there was a big backlash on the stripes, they didn't go down to well with customisers, tradesmen and the press. This is why a delete stripe option was made available in HZ, and I'd guesstimate that DL7 was the single most common stripe option in HZ - in total there'd be probably at least 75% of Sandmans got stripes but DL7 would go close to being the most common stripe option.

Mate I can't see why you should remove your guards with the flutes, they look fantastic it was a complete stuff up on GMHs part. I think if you like them leave them and if it detracts from selling later the wrong person is looking at it. I've completely changed my HZ and have Two serious offers on the table when I want to sell, and I've got my van looking the way I want.

Yeh Gene leave the fluted guards. My HZ has black outs on the rear tail gate window. This HZ doesn't. Does anybody now wich way it should be?

i was in a similar position re removing gts guards but... i dont like side stripes so -> from the side my van would look like a n/a with a set of gts rims and blackouts. leave the GTS guards on and it starts to paint a picture and deffo gains more street cred. leave the flutes gene. put the tools down. leave the flutes alone
