So long as the sedan spring mounts are ground off clean and the commercial saddle mounts are welded on square it will make zero difference to the ride or performance.
As for value to the overall Sandman? Most will not even notice. But for those who do, it is a pointer the car is a bitsa and not a true high value original survivor.
over the years ive seen ute van diffs with the centre ears or lobes cut off i always thought these were sedan diffs cut and welded to suit the van ute but not sure if they were made that way?
Could be Commodore castings used on commercials past VB Commodore release?
If you look at ozboxs diff thread he mentions that some commercial diffs had no ears cast on them at all. Some have the ears with no holes. Ones with holes are all sedan diffs except small Salisbury diffs that sometimes have holes in the ears even though they were commercial vehicle diffs.
All of my three Salisburys (2 on vans and 1 spare) have solid ears.
