Grunt would have that finished by the end of the month
From what can be seen of it, it looks a reasonable buy and books too.
Notice it has a HJ tailgate, HQ tailgate hinges and a sedan diff.
So like most Sandman's it's a bitsa.
The negotiable price part is a great start.
Even the starting price is a great start. A bitsa full of rust with no parts usually has an asking price that's getting up there a bit.
If the body is really good and it is the right body that isn't too bad a price, buy it for say $8-$8.5. A good straight body is worth $2500.
There van / ute diffs are wider than a sedan but still a 10 bolt
Is that right, isn't the only difference (Once you grind off the mounting brackets for the coil springs and put on the leaf spring ones) that you have holes in the tags at the center? I was always under the impression they were the same width.
Diffs are all the same other than disc brake HZ-WB (shorter axles) ones plus tonner and 350 HQ with the bigger uni cups on the yoke (ignoring sedan/coupe/wagon/Statesman coil springs vs leaf springs on ute/van/tonner). The reason that one is a coil spring diff is it has holes in the centre casting for the upper control arm bushes.
Yeah the drum brake versions are all the same width. The sedan diff's have the upper control arm holes opened for the sedan/wagon bushes.
