The commodore is the torana sized replacement
Mid range car with the twin turbo or super charge would go well.
Torana ran until 1980. Commodore started in 1978. I think the Camira introduced in 1982 was the logical replacement of the Torana.
However that's not the point. There is more or less no market for big family cars. Sporty smaller cars is where it's at in 2013. Or 4wd cars.
commodore as is suits me,tows my boat and car trailer(not at the same time) and is big enough to load up and go away for weekends and still gets reasonable fuel consumption for a daily drive
Maybe chuck a 6.0 litre in the pathetic thing they call a holden cruze.
Driver -1981 WB kingswood 253 4 speed
Weekend- AC Cobra replica 302ho(425hp) 4 speed toploader
Project Complete- SLR 5000 LH mock up(next door Neighbors)
never late in a 5.0 litre
Everyone appears to drive 4 x 4 these days, as I am in the country loads have 4 door utes, but even I now drive a Jeep Wrangler, and not an XR8 anymore, and I only drive a Jeep because I refuse to conform to what everyone else drives, which are Prados, and cruiser, etc. and I like to be different. Our daughter just bought a new Ford Kuga, just a little soft four wheel drive which suits her country driving, (she wanted a GT Rspec, but was not in her budget) and there is a dealer in most towns. Our son has a Ford Ranger 4 door. We are about to change over, Rodney's XR6 ute which is one year old to a new one for $5K changeover, can't beat that really. (he does get a family discount) Now he will need to keep this until he retires in a few years time, and just uses the HX Sandman as his part time work car.
