    How loud is too loud?

    Getting the HZ van ready for lisenceing I have put on twin 2' inch stainless pipes, no balancer and fully muffled. (253). Sounded OK untill till the test drive today, very boring. After it gets past the the inspection it has to change.Those mufflers must go. Any suggestions please?

    96db @ 3500rpm is the max level allowable in vic..... Not sure about the other states

    HAHA!! I amazed that Harleys can get away with their db reading.....then again, are you really going to tell a bikie to muffle his Harley.....not likely

    On my 308/TH400 ute I'm running a twin 2 inch system out of the extractors without the balance pipe, but in mild steel. I'm happy with the Lukey Glasspack mufflers I had fitted a few years back. They bark a bit at mid to high revs but are nice and menacing in the low rpm band just burbling around.

    I had them hung high at the back and turned down (so that they are only just visible below the rear valance) for a couple of reasons, mainly noise around town.

    My structure is about the same as Taily's but come out the rear valance a little flatter/not much angle. But sound great

    Haha, hotdogs are great. My old HQ ute ran twin 2 1/2" pipes with a 9" hotdog both sides dumping out of the sills just after the doors. Current set up is a balanced 2" system out of generic extractors into straight through mufflers, finished off with 3" tips cut off level with the bumperettes. Sounds good and have never once been questioned by the local Constabulary.

    i used to run copper pipe with hot dogs in my old HZ, i think when i got pulled over by the EPA, they compared it to a 747 taking off.
    now iam a little more mature, twin 2" with lukey mufflers
