Based on the examples so far, it looks like ribbed style changed to the sandpaper style when the HZ series commenced production.

No, I meant all HZ are the same materials until late in 1978. So there is no change in within HZ until then, they are all the sandy looking material which I believe changed from the earlier stuff at or just before HZ production started.

OK. I have an 18v trim code, so I will order a black sandpaper style headlining and sunvisors then.

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Great. I thought colour was he easy part with a 18v trim code.

Is there anyway to tell what colour it would have had originally?

Remnants of the original headlining. 18V can have black or buckskin headlining and visors. Depends on how it was ordered.

So that would be correct for my 11/77 HZ Sandman which is 18v. It has slate seats and door cards and has a hoodlining and visors which appears to be a beige/buckskin colour.

Thanks byron. I ordered a set of holden HZ parts books for future reference. Hopefully at least 90% of what is in the book will be correct!

I will stick with the black headlining for my 18v van.

It has neytral headlining, very common as black was too hot.
