Holden does class cars built after 1st September each year as the following years model.
But people are never going to understand that if the tag says it's 9/77 or 10/77 etc it's a 1978 car, to them it's always going to be a 1977 model.
My VY is an October 2002 but the computer (Tech 2) regards the car as a 2003 simply because it was built after September 1st.
The VIN tag does change in most cases to the next year's model code though at the 1 Sept boundary, except at some assembly plants where it goes on early (like later cars at Acacia Ridge) and gets delayed. I think those have an element of prediction in them when the VIN tag is stamped.
I'm pretty sure Honda starts their new model year for bikes in July or close to that anyway!

I bought a new Honda XR400 in January 1996. It was plated 1995. They were not released until 1996.
The most famous example is the 64 1/2 Mustang (released April 1964).
Does anybody make new the 4 cluster sports guages and speedo with the yellow needle on the hz
I would say the answer to that is no.
