There is nothing wrong with a Q-Jet but equally the same is true of Holley carbs.
It comes down to tuning and whether you know how to tune. People who bag one over the other simply don't know what they are doing.

A 450 4 barrel would have to go close to that

Yeah the 450 economiser series are good carbs on a 253. But these are not enough on a 308 and lack response all over the power band range on the 308 from my experience.
