Shame its got the wrong tonneau cover on it.
Shame its got the wrong tonneau cover on it.
Clips are wrong - these look like cast metal screw in clips, but should be black plastic clips with 3 push in plastic pins - like these ones:

Not meant to have elastic rope. The way the rope goes through the cover is wrong. You shouldnt be able to see those loop things the rope goes through.
Plus they are the wrong hooks so it must have had a respray and had the wrong hooks put on it. Would love to see the tags.

....for the dollars and if its an xx7 with delivery papers and matching numbers its priced right...if it was a windowless panno it would have been sold by now....even with some faults..![]()
You sure about that WB???
Factory tonneau covers had eyelets.... laccy rope threaded through the eyelet down to the clip and back up through the next eyelet.
The tonneau and clips pictured on the ute above are aftermarket..... have seen quite a few Tassie utes with that same style tonneau but with factory clips.
I have a factory tonneau from a mates old HX Sandman under the house, had it for many years..... At least I think I've still got it....
4/75 HJ XX7 Sandman Panelvan ... Persian Sand currently restoring
7/76 HX Monaro 4dr 308 4sp... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell.. SOLD
3/77 HX Sandman Panelvan ... Absinth Yellow and rusty as hell .. SOLD
Yeah they had a rope which at a guess was sash cord or similar. No elastic. There was no colour band around the edge and the rope was threaded through eyelets in the seam of the cover. They had a pattern on the underside of the material(bit like the David jones pattern).
Mine still has the original on it. I put the elastic rope in it and had some re-stitching done on it.
Those hooks look like something you would use to tie an awning down on a verandah.
Maybe I am being pedantic, but if you are going to say it is one of the best Sandman utes in Australia then things like that have to be right(hooks I mean).
