How much..?
How much..?
My HX ute has so far cost me, $2500.00 initial purchase, this was for a very rusty rolling shell with 2 seats and all hanging panels which are not in the best condition, a non matching 253 engine and an aussie 4sp with no shifter or bell housing. I'm in Warragul and the ute was in Sydney, $1000.00 to get it and bring it home, $1500.00 for new upholstery, $500.00 for a set of GTS rims, $500.00 to piece together a GTS dash. I am now up to $6000.00 and the car is still a rusty rolling shell in need of total restoration, I also haven't listed hundreds of dollars worth of parts I've picked up on e-bay because I haven't actually added all the costs up yet, on top of this is all the running around to get the parts. If I had my time over I wouldn't go this route, I would pay more and get something more complete, I calculate that this car will take another 15 to 20 thousand to complete as long as I do most of the work myself and only have the things I can't do like the engine machining and gearbox rebuild done outside. Looking at it from that angle I would say that anyone who took on your shell to do as a project would need to already have a lot of the parts and the ability to do it themselves and be looking at an initial price of around the $1000.00 mark. That price only being because it is a Sandman, if it weren't a Sandman it would only be worth what the recycler would give for it. Now we get in trouble from some of the others on this forum for talking the price of a Sandman down but that's not what I'm doing, I'm trying to give a realistic idea of what your shell is worth and no I don't want to buy it myself I have enough projects to keep me going for quite a few years as it is. I wish you good luck with selling what you have, just don't be disappointed if the offers don't meet what you have been led to believe what your shell is worth.
HQ Glacier White Belmont Ute
Wanted Lanspeed accessories for Holden Grey engines, twin carb manifolds, extractors, rocker cover, 3 speed floor shift.
Nothing disappoints me mate been in the game along time I know end of the day it's worth what someone wants
To pay.But hopping for around $2000 could be dreaming time will tell
The best use is for someone to find a complete late Elizabeth 4.2 Sandman van with a reasonable body but non-mathcing chassis. These come up reasonably regularly. And use that car on the chassis with the L31 M41 tags. Turn a $4,000 parts car into something worth spending $ on. The butchered van body could be either used for rust repairs on the van or sold again on the other hZ Chassis with the 4.2 Sandman tags.
I was referring to the Victorian L 31 M41 car. The panama green 253 4 speed van cut into ute is the $4000 car asking price
i think $1500 is fair enough i just got $1300 for a van rolling shell with 308 4 spd tags not a sandman, i did throw a few parts in but genuine sandman tags have to be worth more than that.........hey if you cant sell it ill give you $500 i don't live too far awayhaha
Do you have a link to this one?
Everybody but you are talking about a different butchered Van.
As for the one the thread is about I stand by my original price of under $1500 depending on what is included.
If it's solely 3 tags and chassis rails and no diff, tank, front end etc the price just keeps getting lower.
