My HX ute has so far cost me, $2500.00 initial purchase, this was for a very rusty rolling shell with 2 seats and all hanging panels which are not in the best condition, a non matching 253 engine and an aussie 4sp with no shifter or bell housing. I'm in Warragul and the ute was in Sydney, $1000.00 to get it and bring it home, $1500.00 for new upholstery, $500.00 for a set of GTS rims, $500.00 to piece together a GTS dash. I am now up to $6000.00 and the car is still a rusty rolling shell in need of total restoration, I also haven't listed hundreds of dollars worth of parts I've picked up on e-bay because I haven't actually added all the costs up yet, on top of this is all the running around to get the parts. If I had my time over I wouldn't go this route, I would pay more and get something more complete, I calculate that this car will take another 15 to 20 thousand to complete as long as I do most of the work myself and only have the things I can't do like the engine machining and gearbox rebuild done outside. Looking at it from that angle I would say that anyone who took on your shell to do as a project would need to already have a lot of the parts and the ability to do it themselves and be looking at an initial price of around the $1000.00 mark. That price only being because it is a Sandman, if it weren't a Sandman it would only be worth what the recycler would give for it. Now we get in trouble from some of the others on this forum for talking the price of a Sandman down but that's not what I'm doing, I'm trying to give a realistic idea of what your shell is worth and no I don't want to buy it myself I have enough projects to keep me going for quite a few years as it is. I wish you good luck with selling what you have, just don't be disappointed if the offers don't meet what you have been led to believe what your shell is worth.
