If its only passengers side it could be the heater core leaking. Had that happen on my ute.
All good advice guys, thanks.
I had another look today and resealed the cracked compound. I also got my hand up on the left side and felt a tiny rust hole that may be in the plenum, or where the guard attaches. I put some sealing compound in there and will check tomorrow with water.
The drivers side may be the windscreen. I'll pull the trim and have a look. These are only tiny leaks and it was really heavy rain, but I still want to fix them for peace of mind.

yeah thats right especially if its due to rust, eliminating as much as possible extend its life before the next resto
HQ-WB used to develop rusty plenums and hence wet feet well before the end of the 70's. I'd bet at least 90% of the time it'll be rust when you get water leaks especially in Belmont/Holden luxury level. The worst offending spot in my experience is the front face of the plenum on either side where the plenum is very close to the firewall. In many cases the body dip or electrostatic red primer didn't get into that space and all it takes is some condensation. The right way to fix it is at resto time where you remove the whole cowl by drilling out all spowelds and replace either the whole plenum or pieces of it using a cut from a rust free donor. I've even seen people fix them using a whole firewall cut grafted in along the floor join and across the windscreen pillars.
Hopefully it's a long time before I need to perform that kind of surgery!

if you can be bothered, rip the seats out so you can lay on the floor with the doors shut and keep them shut. grab a torch, get someone to hose the car until you find it.

I have seen on my brothers old van in a very heavy rain in Townsville the cowl panel filled up quicker than it could drain and over flowed the in to the vents.
