    Nice HJ Sandman

Probably been discussed here before, but it is nice so I put it up again.

I know it is dear, overpriced by maybe $5-10k (ad does say negotiable though) but when you look at what you get (if it is really as good as it looks), I doubt you could buy a nice bodied HJ Kingswood Sandman ute (especially a V8 one if this was one) and build it up to be like this for the asking price.

    WA, $35k negotiable.

$35k asking does seem high though when for similar money you could buy one of these below, horses for courses I suppose:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Chevrolet...1#ht_540wt_932
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Chevrolet...#ht_618wt_1170

But people will pay $25k for a rusty basket case 5 litre HK GTS, so go figure!

It does look nice doesn't it?

I guess it's worth what he gets in the end. I'd happily own it, but not for that price.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

It has some appeal but the engine is wrong for a Sandman.
If you want modified car with Chev engine etc you might as well just have a mock up.
As the value of being a Sandman is diminished. Wonder if it was a desirable L31/M41 or just another L32?
Does it come with the original engine etc?

Nothing in the other links was appealing outside of maybe the Chevelle and even then it doesn't rock my world.

I think it's a kalgoorlie ute so it should be rust free.

If you could buy it for high $20k's I still doubt you could build it starting from scratch, a rust free HJ ute body and panels would set you back at least $3000 to start with, so at that price being a Sandman is a bonus.
