    Debutante Balls etc, your experiences..?

So I was asked recently to drive a friend to her Deb Ball. I thought it was a bit odd as I (quite wrongly) assumed she'd want to go in a Limo or some flash new Commodore or whatever... But it made me start thinking about my Deb Balls I've been involved in and thought a thread about our experiences might take off.
Who remembers their Deb, Socials, Dances, formals or whatever they may have been?
Does anyone have any cool old pics or stories to share? Do kids want to attend anymore?

I'll start with this one, cause I have to say Teegs shines brighter, but the ute came up looking bloody amazing

I must admit I'd never even heard of a deb ball until I was in my 20's. Had no clue what one was. Must have been a country or private school thing in the 80's.

Well I went to a couple of private schools, so maybe that was it? The one this week was ran by the Y'smen Club in Ararat.

Was not allowed to attend ours. Got into a bit of strife.
This thing of being driven in a special car is only a new idea. Copied from yank prom night.
Not private schools. Public country schools all have done them for 50 years at least. I went to a public boarding school in Sydney. It was a pretty uncool event really. No one gave a rats about it. They seem to have regained popularity lately. Two of my boys have been page boys at our local school.
    Nice ute by the way.

I may have made a few enemies when I loaded 3 super soaker guns with vinegar instead of water as well I was a pretty fast runner back in the day

Did not have them when I was a lad. My son partnered one of his school friends to a deb in 2012. He had a great time.
