I used to sit by the front gate at Primary school with my mates every morning to watch a purple LC GTR XU-1 driven by an old lady (she probably wasn't that old, but I was 10 or 11, everyone looked old!). I lusted after an XU-1 for years and eventually got one, then 2,3,4,5.....

The Panel Van craze took hold of me before I was old enough to drive, and one of my coaches in my chosen sport had a green (Jamacian Lime?) HJ Sandman and used to drive me around everywhere. I loved that van and have loved them ever since. He was such a cool bloke, he let me borrow it when I got my licence to drive to a school dance. I think I had 8 mates in the back and was the king of the school when I turned up in a Sandman.
I shot up the popularity list after that!

I can't believe that was 37 years ago...........
