I rang around a little today, one place said $3,300 and another said $3,600. I got told that at the moment there is a government rebate. The $3,300 included it getting put on the dyno, having all new parts and it being guaranteed. I live in Tassie and it is legal to have a V8 on your P's here, I made sure of that before I bought the 253. Dad has a ute which he bought from Victoria that has a nice air cleaner on it, that ute is also dual fuel.

If you want fuel economy shove a Toyota Diesel in there.

There is a thing called going broke saving money. Spending 3k on a gas system is going to take forever to get back in fuel savings. Just tune it up properly and drive sensibly. You can't compare a motor designed in the 60's with anything that is current.

Doug, I would run a reco ww 2 barrel stomberg. The factory item on a red 253. A fresh 253 4 sp 3.08 diff should get approx 10 lt / 100 Km's which is fine.

Or run a Quadrajet so u can get around the log trucks but still have good economy
