I dunno, I've met a lot of car people that have some interesting "stories" about their finds. I think a few of them are just that. A guy working road service sounds like the perfect candidate for a little truth embellishment.

This is true. He seemed pretty honest, the only thing was he was sketchy about the details. I'm not sure the Sandman was genuine. He said it had Sandman painted on the tailgate, not a decal and the ID plates said 'Sandman' on them. He may be on the money, but didn't have the knowledge.

I think the second last sentence says it all. Got a feeling the RACV man might be full of it. Not saying it couldn't happen but generally there's a family member or neighbour with enough knowledge to be dangerous, who is good enough to tell the seller about its real value. The internet has made it almost impossible not to have a fair idea too.

While in Vic my mate peter said to hang about to check out car show and swap meet at warragul ( I think) walked in picked up a console complete, been fixed glued on inside but looks good put that in ute then walked back in and checked out a front spoiler asked price $150 offered $120 he said ok then pulled out the Holden bags ! Nos pair bonus so will have to find a good front now to put it on . So I guess that's my luck gone for a while now
