    speaker location

Hey guys can someone tell me where the original speaker points were in the HX panelvan? I need to put new speakers in and of course not putting them in the door trim. I have seen some in the kick panel but that doesnt look right either. And what is the largest size that will fit, as I'd like at least 6inch. Cheers

Wherever the stereo fitter put them!!

That was the 1st stop after you drove your new van out of the Holden dealer. Then you went to McDonalds, maybe the beach, your mates place, then eventually home....

Sorry, nostalgia caught me off guard again..... kick trims were common place for stereo speakers, but don't put them there!

Pull your rear panels off, cut a hole and stick them in there, one each side right towards the back.

I assume the original 'speaker' would be the central one under the dash.

Making a pair of solid, nicely made kick panels for your speakers isn't too difficult to take on (there are many articles and pictures online) and can look very neat and tidy. Will easily mount a 6" speaker and you may as well put a split in there while youre being handy.

Very good place to mount for sound quality. And no irreversible changes and cuts to trim either.

Depends if you after sound quality or just want sound. Speakers project sound. They need to be roughly going towards your ears. Bass is non directional so you can chuck a sub woofer out of the way.
It's a compromise what ever you do. Sadly the best place for sound quality is mounted in the metal in the door. I can understand not wanting them there though.
In the back of a van would be next best. Kick panel works but you will kick them all the time and the sound goes straight at your feet.

If you have a archway, what are the best choices for 4 inch 3 ways?

Hay all, I purchased 4 off 9x6 speaker boxes from supercheap auto's, and put them in the back of my van. 2 at the back door and 2 behind the seats, I get pretty good sound and no modifications.the only issue is movement but only if your fanging around in you van.image_zps495c80ed.jpg

I will be putting he stock radio in so the amp won't be great either. Where would be the best place under the dash. It's out of the way and the sound won't be at your feet?

The stock AM radio? Just use a speaker in the dash where the original one would go.

Just think about the result of a speaker box thrown at your head at 100km an hour.
