    Grill

I brought a hq grill from rare spares a while ago and i have to say im not impressed. I brought a NOS grill recently for huge dollars and there is no comparison. Im interested in opinions. You rely on rare spares for parts that are no longer available but are they as good as NOS parts?

I bought a HZ grille from RS just to fill in for a wedding while I was looking for a good original. I must say grilles and outer trim stuff is much better original, than reproduction. Also most rust repair panels just aren't right. Go original when and where ever you can.

Their Aussie 4-speed shifters aren't much chop either. I bought one for my blown Torana and the gates bent and jammed up after a few drives.

I have been told that they now make a reproduction bottom tailgate in the original thickness. If so about time!

I have heard from several people to stay away from the grills cheap and nasty, I also payed big coin for a nos one but no comparison if you want to do once and do it right.

I understood the HQ Grilles were being made by the original manufacturer, so i'm surprised they are a problem but i've never tried to fit one. HZ Grille I understand, not sure how it was done. Almost looks like it is a copy of the HZ SL/E grille design with the extra stuff removed off the front as it was only those grilles that were all plastic, normal HZ had a stainless outer.

You might want to look into that a little further as I was led to believe it is only the outer skin that is now original thickness. I am very happy to be wrong though!

Maybe if Les (or someone) could confirm either way?

Im just about to get a hq sandman/ss grille from rares....unless i come across a NOS one. I did check it out and i wasnt super impressed. Although the paint is ok, it still got a few dags from the moulding process that werent cut off prior to painting.

Someone PM Greg or Les and ask them to respond? Tell them your issues. Can't hurt!
