So true, - you could also have a look at what Castlemaine Rod Shop has on offer, that might give you a heap of options to consider.
The bell-housing I got from them (308 Chevy pattern to Holden) is everything I expected, or better, great cast finish and nicely machined. It was just as affordable as any other option, delivered quickly via Aust Post, and came with a neat "CRS" logo embossed in the side of the casting too.

Yeah, I've used the spacers and they are a bit messy since everything has to be spaced the same amount. If the motor is going to be out of the car it's a no-brainer to get it re-drilled and dowelled. If you wanted to change the 'box without pulling the motor, then a spacer kit is the go.
