Currently bringing it home to QLD from Wagga Wagga, near moree now. It is a full numbers matching with all the books and service books, even has a card, care of your vehicle against paint deterioration and corrosion. Will the books have anything to help with sandman id?

I have the original books with my HZ Sandman which show the van has matching numbers still but they do not say Sandman, they just called it a panel van. That part is hand written so its still indecisive.

Yesthat makes sense. I am the same as frosty, hand written and says only panel van. I thought it may be something like the tyre placard. If the part number for the book is a certain number it was only for sandman uses and vans.

Only on the "Vehicle Identification Certificate" inside the cover of the service book, will you find Sandman. That's where you will find the relevant information, next to model name will be "SANDMAN", all of the other details for the vehicle will be there also. The book's will be the same as all the other ute & van book's apart from that certificate.

    Cheers.

Should have told that to "Joe Verhagen Holden" in 1978 because they wrote on my Sandman vehicle identification certificate "Model Name 8WM70". It definately is a Sandman. All else matches including 18V trim

That is actually correct, the model is WM70 or 8WM70. Sandman isn't a model, it is a special vehicle package like Vacationer, Ambulance, Taxi etc. Sometimes the dealer put Sandman, sometimes they didn't. My original point was if books say "Sandman" then they help.
