Thanks for all the help guys and hopefully when I get into it I will find what I need to confirm it is an xu3.
At present I am away at work so I cant even slide under and have a look at the spare winch. I will see when I get home.
Hopefully it is there, to be honest I never checked when I brought the car.
If it is not well... it is still a matching numbers van in a rarer colour.

Funny thing is once a car like this is restored any original evidence of it being a sandman are gone. I suppose that's why XX7 on the plates adds value. I think in years to come that Sandmans without some proof on id plates like XX7 or 18v trim on some will make them very hard to sell.

Which is why you want to photograph all evidence you can find of it being a Sandman before starting the restoration.

Would you pay $35000 for a sandman based on digital photos?

WB glove box lid would have different grain, latch and most likely colour to a 12/ 77 HZ lid

I think tyre placards are only helpful if the vehicle has been sitting around for 10 plus years, and you can tell its been untouched for all that time..

I'm talking about the tyre placard in this case. I also didn't see any picture of the face of the glovebox so I have no idea what grain it had.

That is just a stupid analogy, why 10 years and what decade of the 3+ since built? Let's face it most have been raped and had all kinds of swaps over the years. That's like saying just because it's got a rubber stripped front bar and it been on there for the last 10 years it must be from factory!
