All great ideas, but we are still stuck with one of Holden's problems.
The Aussie market is too small & fragmented, you need exports to survive.
Apart from NZ (an even smaller market than Aust.) who is going to buy a retro HT, HQ or HZ ?

The Camaro is exactly that, essentially a retro Holden. It is all but VE underneath.
People's car? That was the Beetle that Hitler chose.....
Do you think if Holden did a nation wide poll ten years ago, asking the public what the want/need, it would've made a difference? Instead of making what they think we want!!
To be honest I doubt they would care. It has become like fashion, where they pump the latest "thing" out essentially telling us what we want. Baaa, and like sheep they all follow. Follow off the cliff in this case.
I've become a bit anti-Holden in recent times. The last ones I owned were the V2 CV8 and the VZ Cross8. After those they haven't built or sold anything close to what I want/need. Before I got my Mrs the RX350 to replace the CV8 I told her she could have any Holden or HSV, didn't want any of them. Wanted an SUV. We looked at Holden's SUV's (Captivas), absolute rubbish and I swear they had a Briggs and Stratton under the bonnet. VE was way too big. I looked at VE utes before I got the Hilux, bloody stupid that the VE wagon can carry and tow more than the ute.
So am I surprised they have failed? No. Not only do they have cost pressures they aren't building what the market wants in a quality product: SUV's, Utes and small affordable good quality cars (like Corolla and Mazda3). If they think they are going to continue selling product in this country with the same quality imported junk of the wrong specifications they are selling now they'll not last.
So she rather a glorified toyota (RX350)than a HSV women dont know nothing about cars byron you of all people should know that but if she is happy thats the main thing
but i do agree with you about the captiva probably the worst car holden has ever built whatever you do dont seize an engine in a captiva its a $9000 job
HSV is a glorified Holden though isn't it?! Sill a big, ugly 4 door sedan regardless of how good it is! Still the same things about it the VE she didn't like covered in glitter with even more low-to-the-ground or close-to-the-gutter stuff to smash and scratch. I almost got her into a Toyota 86 until we both drove it and like just about everything else, compared to the Monaro it was uncomfortable, too hard to get in and out of and had less power than a postie's bike!
She knew enough to know she wanted a Monaro though, the very first time she saw one. She wanted an Astra coupe until she saw a black Monaro, but I managed to sway here away from that folly into a silver one!
I suppose i will always want at least one holden in my fleet of cars atm i got 2 but i do have 2 mazda 4x4 utes work of coarse but im thinking about buying a new holden ute maybe 2015 ive never bought a new holden so its time
The way i see it, when they pump the latest thing out, theyre already behind the 8 ball. Like the Captiva....just another SUV. Other car companies have been there done that.
Im disappointed the cross 8 running gear wasnt put into a 2 door ute body or 1 tonner, instead of only being offered in the Adventra and Crewman.....and Coupe4.
