$35k driveaway, for the 270kW Falcon version. Imagine one of these with an alloy tray, well hidden from Police scrutiny and can crack off a high 13 to low 14 sec quarter.
13.4 seconds out of the box stock standard with the right technique (the IRS is a long way from perfect getting power down, whereas a live axle keeps the wheels perpendicular to the road surface) and sedans are well known for flogging diff bushes from people with big right feet.... Ours has been flashed by FPV and has a few brake mods and is quite a bit more "lively" than a stock turbo but will still get down into the high 7s/low 8s lt/100km on the freeway.
There are a couple of tuners around who are getting some good numbers out of stock engines/exhausts and you can pick them up for mid/high 30's if you look around hard enough. I believe one of the reasons Holden had to keep the v8 prices down a bit with the VF?

Its all good having these high performance cars but you cant use them on the street without losing your license and having your car impounded
a) costly
b inconvenience with out a licence or car
c) a&b are enough
But i do like going fast in cars
I'm hearing ya! The good thing about them (apart from bang for buck) is that they can still be driven quietly around town while still able to give you a good "push" back in your seat, don't overheat in traffic etc.

Far less likely to be pulled over in an XR6 turbo ute with an alloy tray than in a Maloo or even an SSV ute. And the FG can tow 2300kg, carry a decent load ( hoping to convince them to give me 1tonne suspension).
My son in law has a current model turbo Ute, he has played with it and now has 500 horses at the wheels.
"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
This has been a very interesting topic, and I am very sad that Holden will stop building cars here, BUT.....
We all seem to agree that there aren't any real good Holdens worth buying anyway, AND.....
We all have (or want) older cars, in particular Holden Panel Vans, so we will still have them and enjoy them whether Holden is building cars in Australia or not.
It's not like we are going to miss buying spare parts over the counter at the Holden Dealer, we haven't been able to do that for a long time for the cars that we drive.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
