The "period mods" excuse is bullshit.
Below is an extract from from the NSW RMS website-
"Historic vehicles manufactured 30 or more years ago are eligible for conditional registration if the operator belongs to a Roads and Maritime Services -recognised historic vehicle club, and the vehicle has not been altered except for certain safety features or period accessories. The vehicle's use of the road network is restricted to club events."
By "period accessories" they mean ACCESSORIES like aftermarket period airconditioning, venitian blinds, wheel spats, etc. Not hot up bits.
If you ask me (only my kids do, and their never listen), there are far to many "clubs" over-stepping the line.
There was a complete custom sky blue Torana at the All Holden Day with Historic plates.
The RMS should remove the plates, cancel the rego and remove the club from the historic registration scheme.
Fine, push the state government for limited use "street machine" rego, but dont crap on the Historic rego.
