Is my HQ ute a Sandman?

The 'sports' codes are all in the 80's,using A & B and probably the nicest of the Kingswood trims, only available during the middle of 74 and so far appear to be sedan only.

30E isn't 74 Kingswood exclusive, the new codes started along with the introduction of the GTS/4 in Feb 73.

I think it is sedan only Leroy. There is a ute and van "sports" which got called Sandman but still appears in documentation as sports, but these didn't get the special trim as we know.

HQ sandman brochure says 3.08 rear axle standard with 253 (ie if no code present on tag this is what it should have) 3.36 optional on 253 and would then have axle code for that listed on tag if it had it.

3.36 was listed as performance option for 253 in the literature I have. Looks like we have another ute like mine, can never really prove its heritage, but what a lovely package anyway.

hi hk1837 ,today ive had the oportunity to check out my ute ,i cut a section of carpet out at the back between seats and found evidence of were console bracket was and as i suspected some one hacked it off and covered with new carpet at one stage ,also scraped back burgundy paint under tailgate near bumperette and found black original paint,im not sure how to send photos as i took them on my samsung phone thanks .kingsandman

merry Christmas all ,her are some photos of my ute only about half the photos uploaded ,needs restoring,someones repainted it at some stage,spent chritmas eve going over it ,hoping santa leaves stocking full of cash so I can bring it back to its former glory
