Most manufacturer's do it.
Most manufacturer's do it.
Me neither, I'm glad Innuendo is on the ball. The car manufacturers would have an airtight reason for dating cars this way.
"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
They aren't dated as such by the VIN plate, the vehicle's compliance month/year is on the ADR plate. The VIN letter is simply a code for a model year and over time people have "Chinese whispered" the meaning of the codes from a model year to a year.
Where it can get silly and falls over though is for example with 9/74 complianced HQ's. These have an E in the VIN which means they are a 1975 model HQ! Same for 9/77 HX's, become 1978 model HX.
As Robbo says there will be a logical and sensible reason for it as most manufacturers did/do it at some stage.
there we go...learn something new everyday! thanks for clarifying that.
Thanks for that. I was close!
Will check mine tomorrow see how close it is to yours to
So did you get it the van? That is up there with one of my favorite coulor combos, Palais white with black trim. Nice score best part is XX7 can't argue with that.
Yeah you were close! Yeah I picked the van up is in quite good condition in regards to rust..basically none which is good. Has has a slight punch in the
nose tho, so I'll have to sort that out. Also has had a 186 slotted in at some stage! So I'll have to try n get a date code close to what this originally would have had.
but price was right and it turned out to be a sandman so all good!
Don't worry about date codes, waste of time you could spend doing something else. Just use a 308.
