goodluck Don. why not run a 350 / Muncie 4 speed?, just a thought... (same hole in floor, crossmember and tailshaft from memory? )
Guys have run small block chev and the holden M21 4 speed over here at times but tearing a tooth off first gear is common after punishment. but it will hold up if you look after it.
maybe keep the holden 308 on an engine stand in your shed as a talking point over beers..
