Looks like the one I sold in 1985 in Ohio. it was cotillon white , black trim 308 4 speed. I sold that and a HJ GTS metallic brown show van called " Apperition "not sure of the spelling but had New South Rego number NJP 801. I sold the pair to a guy that I think might have been that bloke Terry Thompson who let all his lions and tigers out before he killed him self in zainsville Ohio. we also left a HZ 308 van in a street in Compton Los Angeles because we had to come back to Australia. I also sold in Columbus Ohio a BLACK XB V8 COUPE, XC GS 302 yellow ute and a XC GS yellow van which both won many trophy's over there.

Just read the post and in fact, aaachina called me this morning to discuss the car! A very welcome phone call to say the least. I had actually found one of his business cards in the rear fender well but it didn't have any address or phone number on it. He is going to e-mail me the entire story on the car and how it got here to the U.S. Nice to finally put the story behind the car! Have the chassis all painted, front end is all rebuilt and installed, rear end has all the brakes rebuilt, new bearings, races, seals. Just waiting to put a paint job on it and get it mounted to the chassis. Work is busy in the summer so not much time to work on projects. Have to wait til the snow starts to fly so I can have more garage time. Still undecided on the motor!

Hey Don, do you realise you can view a members profile by clicking on their name and see their activity level?

There are some very new members from O.S. on this site recently.

Hi Dave. im Australian and decided to export aussy cars from here to the states in early 1985. After talking with Don last night a few things came back to me. I sold the sandman and the hj showvan to a collector/dealer in West Virginia around September 1985 for $5000 the pair as I had to go back to L A buy cars and load them, and get out of the states in a hurry. I had already been given two visa emergency extensions and had no time left to stay and get the right money for the cars. Why export to USA you wonder? Import duty to Aus was at the time 148%, import duty going to the states 2.5%. also good exchange rate at the time.

That's awesome. I love it when a story comes together. How did you happen to stumble upon this story on this forum Aaachina? Are you still into old Holden's?
