Couple I remember from when I was a kid.

Homestead Chicken restaurants. Used to love their fried mushrooms as a kid, which is weird cause I hate the friggin things now.

Waltons. I got lost in the one in Bankstown Square when I was 5 or 6. Assuming K-mart or similar took them over.

Waltons (the store) was taken over by Grace Bros who sold it to Norman Ross' new owner Alan Bond. Gerry Harvey and Ian Norman refused to sell Norman Ross to Alan Bond and so did a deal with Grace Bros.
When he found out that the dirty had been done on him with the sale going to Bond in the end anyway. He started Harvey Norman in retaliation. Gerry Harvey's best mate (for many years) John Singleton's advertising agency mimicked the Waltons TV commercial with "We're going to beat you" with dancing cheerleaders pom-poms etc. In the end he was 100% right. Alan Bond went to gaol, Waltons is dead, Grace Bros is Myer and Harvey Norman is thriving.

The Waltons the TV series was a great family show of the '70's "Good Night John-Boy!"

That youtube video is brilliant. Back when Holden didn't give a crap about being a "world"company. About the only thing old mate didn't have was a pack of Winfield blue in the top pocket and a DA longneck in his hand.

My mrs nan still had a big old His Masters Voice TV up until a couple of years ago. Was still going when my uncle-in-law bought her a new flat screen job.

    Kimba was my hero!!!
Saw SKIPPY DVD in the shops the other day . Bought it just for the grand kids as they had never seen it before. Well, sat them in front of the tv and gave them the lecture on paying attention to this aussie classic. After the first episode finished I said "we'll what do you think of that kids" . The 6 yr old grandson said " good pa but which one is skippy."
