    LSA crate motor

    $11,500, brand new....

Cannot believe how cheap this crate motor is for what you get, especially when compared to going through the exercise of supercharging an injected Holden motor. The whole thing is only a couple of grand more than just the whipple blower kit from Yella Terra... Admittedly you still have to accessorise the engine, just shows that we do pay a premium for our "limited number" (in comparison to Ford, Chev etc) Holden. For just the head work, porting, roller cam/lifters/valve gear for my VN headed 355 (fun engine, the original bore oringinal engine will be slipped under the bench after a strip and standard rebuild), I'm up for $4.5 to $5K plus the cost of the stroker bottom end, and I was only thinking of keeping it normally aspirated

You could build a Holden motor with the same (if not more) grunt but it wouldn't idle or be as tractable as the LSA is out of the box. Makes me wonder if I should just fit a YT whipple to a mild build 304...

Reckon it would clear under the bonnet?
    Nunc est bibendum...

I wholeheartedly agree Dave, the price is good for what you get.
I have been considering buying a LS3 to replace my LS1 at $7950.00

The thing I'm unclear about it how the computer and wiring is sorted as I'm quite new to modern cars.

I have also considered a Harrop Supercharger but that alone is $9000 + cam, lifters, extractors and mafless tune.

And we wonder why Holden is stopping production in Australia? They can't compete with cheap imports. The engine rebuilding companies like COME and Yella Terra (if they still exist) have no hope. We are going to become completely dependant on imported stuff soon.

this is an excellent value engine.
not sure the differences as far as bolting it in, if mounts and gearbox pattern is the same as ls1/2 I might have just found a new donk.

    G'day guys,

I contacted preston motors surplus parts when considering an LSA project. At the time their price was $10,500 exceptional good value. Cheapest LSA Engine I was able to find. Links below:
