    More importantly an L34 won in 1975 and 1976 with a banjo, and almost won in 1974 as well, in a far more powerful and heavier car with bigger rubber. The XU1 came so close in 1973 as well, so banjo fitted Toranas either won or came very close in 1972-1976. Doesn't really prove much as Gene says though. We've all busted a banjo on the street!

    The racing xu1 didnt have normal banjos if my memory serves me correct they were Detroit lockers

    In reality it's lucky ford put that small truck diff in cars. If not Australia would have very few diff options for street machines and drag cars. Everyone might have been using Bedford diffs...

    12 bolts out of Pontiac and Impala or imported Camaro. Next step up in strength again. You'll find a lot of 9" diffs used in the 80's and 90's were imports in any case.

    Besides the banjo diff bolts in from the front and the Salisbury from the back what's the difference and how do you tell if its a 8 bolt or 10 bolt ect?

    I learnt a bit out of that is it true a nine inch requires more horse power. And is it as easy to change the ratio in a Salisbury than it is in a banjo

    No you need to set a Salisbury up properly. Not a job to do unless you know what you are doing.
