Monaro is actually Aboriginal. I think it means "High Plains" or "Mountain" or something like that.

Always hear people say, this is an Aboriginal word for this or this is a Aboriginal word for that. Since the Aborigines never had a written language how is this worked out ?? Monaro's meaning could be two dogs !

I think it is well known what the Monaro region was named after, and this is where Noel Bedford got the name for the HK coupe (prior to then they I think were going to be HK Kingswood coupe and HK GTS coupe). I don't think there is any definitive actual translation because it wasn't a written language, but Aboriginal people when asked what this area was called they probably said "Monaro", and I guess when prodded for what it meant they said "high land" or "high plain" or "elevated area" or "mountain" or whatever.

This just reminds me of that scene from the movie " Ron Burgandy , Anchorman" and the meaning of San Deigo, lmao,
