Hi,

I have noticed one of the threads that had a pic from the historical site, for this I am looking at getting the report to get a start for my project sandman.

What I am wondering is if any of the masses on this forum may know how to get a bit more on the history of the car.

I have spoken to my dad and he purchased the car in the Northern Territory in 1983 and has had the car since. It was flooded in 1998 in Katherine, where we replaced the 253 with another 253 out of a HQ. since then my brother has rebuilt the original 253 and reinstalled it into the car before handing it on to me. I have since started trying to repair her back to former glory but am keen to find out what happened between the plant in Adelaide and where my dad bought it.

Any help appreciated

Very hard to mate unless you have mates within the rego office's of each state....

Yeah thats what I thought, we are not sure if it came from the factory with the windows in the sides, but my dad seems to think they were put in afterwards.

Show us a picture of the side panel glass. If it's aftermarket glass it will be easy to tell.

This shows the side of the van with the windows, as far as we can tell all the reinforcing inside the van looks like it is genuine or at least engineered after the fact but no modification plate on it, and if it was an after thought it would have been in the first 6 years of her life.

They appear to be factory side glass.

I am thinking I will have to get the Historical report and see if that mentions anything about it having them from the factory. Just need to come up with the $90 for it.

Dont think the report will tell you about the side glass

From what I can gather from the website it details the options that were done to the car on roll out from the factory. At least that is what I am hoping for.
