You don't have to modify the firewall to fit a 400 Chev or even a 454 Chev engine.
You don't need to modify a firewall to fit a Jaguar V12 either. From the photo the firewall modification is a backyard job and the Van comes across as just another customised Van of the show van and vanning craze.
As for the side glass being factory that's about as true as the firewall being for a 400 Chev. So far I think we are at the point were late '73 was the first of the factory side glass. There has been no proof of anything earlier and of course it is two windows a side. If you want to know about Holden exports Ian Sharrock is the bloke to ask. I don't believe panel vans ever made to South Africa.

Obviously this Van has a story to tell and it would be great to know it's real history.

the vin tag was unreadable, [covered with paint layers] and he was not keen to let me expose it at the time, i will try get back there and see if he will tho, as it has the key to this vans history.

I reckon it has had a large Diesel engine in it. A v12 jag is still only the same length as a 6 cylinder.

I looked the car up, and thanks to Leroy I have a Dandenong HQ tonner 29 digits away from this van's chassis number, so I think the PSN off this van is J342001 (which is 31 away from the tonner and no other V8 vans nearby). If so it is a 308 manual. However it was sold as soon as it was completed by a known dealer so not an internal car, so someone has ordered an L31, M21, bucket seat HQ Belmont van in Royal Plum with black trim.
