Even the new is not so new anymore! VY's are a good 10+ years now.

Price guides are useless for any unusually popular vehicles. Go back to 1994 when WB Kingswood utes pulled $8-10000. The book value was $4000 based on what 6 cylinder 3 speedreasonable worth. That's over a 50% difference. You had to get agreed value for insurance. They were still reasonably current then. Only 10 years old for an 84 ute. But book values didn't see somewhere like the Orange Ag college car park. There was no other type of car there. And so it went across most of rural Australia for young country blokes.
Now you can't get bugger all for a WB because the current trend is to say they are uncool and you have to have an older style front clip. Go figure. I think the VZ are going to get hit with a price drop because all their standard brothers and sisters are becoming daggy and that will drag them down.
I would beg to differ on the wb, some people on this site dont like wb nose but when was the last time you saw a tidy original wb, I have been offered offered 5 times what I paid for mine, anything original in good nick v8 holden over 30 years has a pretty reasonable price on it.

It's funny how perception has changed. People still class a VY as new or modern. Yet a HQ in 1984 was classed as old and outdated.
I remember overhearing at the Van Nationals how people hate these "new" cars straight out the showroom turning up and ruining their chances.

'Bout 2 hrs ago. There's an absolute pearler parked just down the road.

I had a good one. Factory V8 Kingswood with factory GTS dash. A mate kept bugging me to sell it to him and his offer was too good to refuse.

Yes, old & new are all just a mind set.

About 8 or 9 years ago when we still used to fit a lot of car air cond units, I had a phone call from a customer asking if we still fitted air cond to old Holdens.

My retort was, "by old Holden, do you mean FJ, EH or HQ ?" His answer was: it's a VL Commodore.

So, to him I guess an HQ would be an "ancient" Holden.

I have to agree and relate,

I have a VS ute, it's pretty good, got a few bells and whistles, I call it Bevan and the first thing people under 30 say is that it's a " tidy old thing " like it's a 1936 Buick lol

VS Commodores are nearly 20 years old and very popular with the young lads.We have one too and it was when the VS was built that they started painting cars decent colours,(apart from the 70s and 80s of course)ours is botanica mica and there was also a colour that looked black but in the sun it had red in it,i think it was called cherry mica? Try and find a series 2 VS V8 calais, people say commodores will never be collectable but i disagree. In years to come finding a good VN SS or VL V8 Calais will be the same as trying to find a factory 308 HG premier is today
