House prices are soaring in Sydney and Newcastle but I agree this situation is shaky. This doesn't really affect the proper collectable cars that much though, only the lesser stuff. Lots of top notch cars sell outside the open market too so prices are hard to judge.

If they are numbered then so be it. It is a rarity for GMH/Holden to do it and makes it also unique to date for Sandmans.

Ok so as a battler these days, I think forget anything with IRS unless it's a gto or SV variant. I think the last of the VS maloo Ute's will increase in time but to buy 1 as an investment you'd be better off with the HX standard ute I just sold *thumbsup* .... But lol I didn't buy any of my cars as an investment, cars are liabilities. Maybe in 30 years time some IRS dunnydoors will be worth more as an investment but doubt it'll be in my time if any even are. Want to buy a car to make money on it probably won't happen unless you buy it off some that needs money or someone who doesn't use the internet (aka some who's old school. Now I've forgotten where I was damn phone not showing whole msg at once hahaha).

Stick to what you know, don't try & predict the future unless you can accurately predict the lotto numbers lol I know I can't :-)

(The edit) still on the lookout for a roof turret for my HJ when my finances allow it)

Are you sure that's not just people turning cheaper VN's into "better" models or clones?
I hope you are right.... they are all pretty good cars. I remember when they were new and wanted an SV89 in white.

I think the later Monaros are looking like a car that is holding value better than average, and I reckon anything HSV is going to rise in value as the years press on. Remember, nobody thought GTR Toranas or HQ Kingswoods would ever be worth anything either....
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!

Defiantly right mate. A nice restored VN SS will fetch $15k!!!

Ive got to know the VN crowd quite well. I don't own one. But I chat with may of the owners of them often. They still don't understand rust though. If it has a bubble near the window seal.... Well its a write off. They scrap it and find another "rust free" shell...

Interesting to see what happens in another ten years, VN shells will be rarer, then you'll maybe see VN collectors getting out the angle grinders (perhaps gently.. thin steel - lol).

I think the market for any Australian built Holden is gonna jump upwards if Holden really do cease Australian production in 2017. I personally reckon there should be a national ban on crushing any Australian made Holden shell from any era imposed now... At least the low steel price should hold off a few.
