Interesting thread. I reckon the value of stuff is hard to compare over time because inflation happens too.

However, there are some real money spinners, and not always predictable. For instance; consider a reasonably rust free Torana shell (of any type - even Sunbird) and its value today compared to just 10 years ago. Sunbird!.... I didnt see that coming!!

Should have of course, if its the hatchback you can go to homebuilt A9X territory.

Sure, I realise thats becuase you can turn it into a performance car with fairly available bits (not as available as once), But I reckon VK could be the same! It's so close to the same car as Torana, but lighter, and pretty much everything just bolts on in factory drilled holes.

So I'm thinking that a bog standard VB-K shell without too much rust could be worth a heap more than you'd think in just 10 years, it just needs a 308, drivetrain and brakes, and you're racing, classic look on VK too - it will only become more so...maybe.... one day.

But I did wonder today at the lights looking at a schmick but standard brand new deep green VF wagon with nice factory alloys, what it would be worth if its simply garaged till 2019?

I dunno of course, but my muse was that in 20 years, any Australian built Holden could be worth pretty decent money. And well desired.

So hang on to that VK Flamingo! Its a bit like coal - give it 3 or 4 million years and it might just turn to diamond!
