[QUOTE=Big Rob;100815]Are you sure that's not just people turning cheaper VN's into "better" models or clones?
I hope you are right.... they are all pretty good cars. I remember when they were new and wanted an SV89 in white.

Ive got to know the VN crowd quite well. I don't own one. But I chat with may of the owners of them often. They still don't understand rust though. If it has a bubble near the window seal.... Well its a write off. They scrap it and find another "rust free" shell...
Interesting to see what happens in another ten years, VN shells will be rarer, then you'll maybe see VN collectors getting out the angle grinders (perhaps gently.. thin steel - lol).

I think the market for any Australian built Holden is gonna jump upwards if Holden really do cease Australian production in 2017. I personally reckon there should be a national ban on crushing any Australian made Holden shell from any era imposed now... At least the low steel price should hold off a few.

I was just browsing through this old thread. Must say I was amazed at how many VNs were on show at the all holden day in Ballarat last weekend. Horses for courses n all that....

But with the imminent arrival of the undeniably un-australian 2018 commodore, what do you guys think people will hold onto, and what will retain value? I was thinking the VE and VF SSs will still hold a little value but I was thinking probably the SSV, Redlines or HSV, GTS Clubsports etc will be in demand when people realise theyre the last aussie made V8 real wheel drive muscle cars...

Think Ill get me one in the next 6 months!

the VF 2 SS and SSV are really low build numbers as i understand (at least in WA!). When i got mine i think there were only a total 4 or 6 SS, SSV & redline utes coming into WA for jan and feb this year.
The sales manager said that they hold very little 'stock' and sell almost all higher spec commies by order. I think I've seen maybe 2 or 3 redlines utes here on the road and they have been making them for a year already. the penny will drop and yes, I'm calling redlines, SSV and HSV too.

I wonder if Holden will be true to form. They dropped the ute in 84. By 90 it was back again. I reckon they will either import or modify to have a V8 again in the Commodore.

I'm thinking anything top end in the VE range.
People are dropping them in favour of the VF.

SV8, SSV, Redline, Senator, GTS untouched and original of coarse.
I left Clubsport out as they came with cloth seats.

My friend picked up a second hand a VE SSV, Voodoo Blue with blue dash and blue stitching in the black leather seats. We cannot find another like it.

Give me cloth over leather every time. At least cloth inserts.
It's funny how people "rate" certain things as desirable...

That's for sure... My VT Clubsport has beautiful cloth seats and (because it only has 40,000km) they are still like new. My Monaro however, with its leather seats is already in need of recovering the fronts and its only got 120,000km. on it.
Good cloth seats in good condition are a great indicator of how a car has been treated.
Vans.... This is the 2nd time round the block, 40 years later! talk about turning back the clock!
