    Only one choice

    A lot of banter lately about what might or might not be a collectable for the future. Some really nice cars being put forward and very hard to argue with. What would be interesting would be opinions on this -
    What would be your first and only choice as an Aussie built car that is relatively cheap now and you consider will be a much sort after car in say 20 yrs time.
    I would go for a VS Maloo ute.

    I'm quite happy to stick with a V Series SS Sandman.
    224 Made with Tags. Purchase now for around the $20K mark.
    Turn more heads than a Monaro and have the same performance.

    You can of course you can get one of -10 versions released as HSV Maloo or Maloo R8 for a bit more.

    Low kM 2001 plated Devil with black trim manual CV8, or pay twice as much for a HSV GTS coupe in Devil. Only other contender in my eyes is a Coupe4.
    In my opinion the rest will end up like HG and HQ coupes, worth having but the original build HK GTS327 is the car to have.
    To me where the HSV stuff falls down is they didn't call them a Monaro, I wouldn't buy one because of that, but the GTS at least has the link. Same for a Maloo, they probably should have called it a Sandman as it essentially fits the original concept rather than see Holden really squander the opportunity on a canopy.

    The other one that will always be special is a 427ci powered HSV.

    If utes are the criteria then the only one I can vouch for is a VSIII SS.

    CV6? you can pick one up for 12k or less,very cheap monaro

    I know a lot of people on here aren't real big HSV fans, but I still see anything with a HSV tag being highly sought after in the long-term. A bit like HK/T/G Monaros, XU-1's, etc..... which were never treated like "collectables" back when they were fairly new. HDT Commodores are pulling high prices compared to plain ones of the same vintage, so it stands to reason that the same path should be taken by HSV's.

    I still reckon the money is better spent on anything from the '60's or '70's though......

    The HDT blue meanie VE can be had for a reasonable price these days, most with low klms, stick it in the shed for 20 years, sure it will be worth a lot more than other models in the future.

    I agree, best bet is to buy one of these now, forget rolling the dice on something that isn't really even a Holden. Limited build means bugger all, just marketing BS, all of the collectable top shelf stuff from the 60's and 70's were regular production models, although some by today's standards are low build numbers. If you can afford it buy a premium HK-HZ or LC-LX but unfortunately the horse has already bolted with these (81837, XU1, L34 or A9X). You could try the second tier cars like GTS, GTR, SLR5000 etc but people are already speculating on these and prices are far too high. Next is grab any of these with the biggest engine available in the model, so 308/5.0L Kingswood, Premier, LS, Sandman etc or even a 350 powered HQ Statesman in as original as possible condition. Even older stuff like HD-HR in that condition are good. Anythig like these (other than silly prices for some Sandmana) can be had for less than $15k or even $10k in some cases. Jason on this site grabbed Bob Jane's 350 powered HQ Premier wagon, which is a car I seriously considered but don't have the space or the time for it.

    Personally I don't see HSV any different to the early BROCK stuff , they were V8 Commodores then BROCK turned them in to something more special same as HSV, I think 99.9% of people would relate BROCK and HSV cars as HOLDEN, hasn't FORD done the same with its FPV Ford Performance Vehicles?. In regards to the HSV coupes I really couldn't careless what the 3 or 4 plastic badges on the car say it is called if I like the look of it and how it drives what more do you what no point getting hung up nostalgia just my thoughts.
