Nothing strange about facts. A HSV is less of a Holden than an Aussie Corolla is a Holden, or an Apollo is a Toyota or a Lexcen is a Toyota. Same base but not the same thing. If a HSV coupe was a Holden it'll be called a Monaro, simple. I bet you won't find too many HSV owners calling their cars a Commodore! The cars are the same base but they are as different as they are the same, there would be more than 50% different parts wise and probably cost wise too.

Sorry Byron but I can't swallow your reasoning at all. The cars came down the same production line and were sold through Holden dealerships and nowhere else.
They simply take a production model and tart it up. I have no issue with people calling a GTO a Monaro because essentially that is what it is. By your reckoning every Torana is a Vauxhall.

While I'm no fan of HSV "improved" Holdens (because I have never like the styling) they as much of a Holden as any other model.
I feel you are placing too much importance on a stick on label and missing the bigger picture.

I know a lot of people on here aren't real big HSV fans, but I still see anything with a HSV tag being highly sought after in the long-term. A bit like HK/T/G Monaros, XU-1's, etc..... which were never treated like "collectables" back when they were fairly new. HDT Commodores are pulling high prices compared to plain ones of the same vintage, so it stands to reason that the same path should be taken by HSV's.

I don't hate Fords I just prefer Holden's. That said it's not true of every model. It's a nice gesture and will likely be well received.
The disappointing thing is, they will likely sell the BF GT to buy a nice shiny new battery powered Kia each.

I think if Byron can convince the masses that Holden Special Vehicles aren't Holdens he should try selling ice to the Eskimos next, saying that half the original parts have been replaced shouldn't make a difference isn't that like saying to someone that has a fully modified EH with V8 etc that it is no longer a Holden EH if half of the original parts have been replaced?
