I'd build a ute as people at least might understand what the replica is. If you do a van they'll just think it is another modified HQ-HZ van from the 90's. To be honest you are better of doing the van as a HJ, X or Z Sandman replica. At least it'll be recognised and may even hold significantly more value if you go to sell it. I have been toying with the left-field opposite, ie finding a decent HZ or WB ute body and making a HQ Sandman ute replica out of it. The reason for the HZ or WB body is these are easier to find than HJ, they have the mounting points for retractables and have the better dash design than HQ. Plus WB buckets are more comfortable than HQ or HJ-HZ and fit properly in a WB (without floor mods) if I was to use one of those bodies.

I have two wb bodies one on its original chassis but cracked badly , the other on a hz chassis so must have been cracked bad also but it's been wrecked with a sunroof and the fuel has been 180'ed to the inside of tray ! But my other question to hk is my 06 ve ss has been built at the hsv factory as I wanted a sunroof , pedal change, stripes ,leather wheel and shifter in red and black( same as outside) it has the hsvi plate on it so what have I got if not a Holden ? You are the guru but I've got a bit of both .

Do you mean HBD or HSV? The car is branded a Holden and had 3rd party work done to it, same as A9X's. It is still a Holden branded car.

So what are all the imported cars Holden are going to be selling in the future? If HSV is not Holden then none of their imports are either?

Why will the imports not be a Holden? They are now, they are branded as a Holden vehicle. A Holden Colorado is a Holden, doesn't matter where they came from. Unlike the Chevrolet cars and trucks and Bedfords which are not total imports, many were assembled here some with GMH engines and transmissions, but they are not a Holden as they are branded otherwise.

When Holden manufacturing ceases in this country will any new Holden models be produced at a standalone Holden factory overseas or will they come from other manufactures and just be rebadged ?

If you read the Magnum thread you will see how urban myths become truth. There is only one Magnum ute.

If HSV is not Holden. Then Corsa is not, HDT is not, Sydney Special Vehicles is not etc etc. They all attached their own build plates to cars sourced from Holden.

Well.... HSV cars are built in a Holden plant and then exported to a HSV plant to be modified. They are still equipped with a Holden issued VIN? Cars that Holden import from another plant overseas and arrive are then issued with a Holden VIN right? They are now a Holden. HSV would need to remove the Holden issued VIN to claim it was a HSV brand car and not just a Holden modified by HSV wouldn't it?

I was talking to a Holden tragic yesterday and he was telling me that Holden owns a share , albeit very small , in HSV. Can anyone confirm this?
