Big Block Chev valve cover ID help!!

    Hey gang...

Can anyone ID these valve covers? Want to know what year and what model they come from. Google came up with nothing unfortunately.

The part number is cast, not stamped. "CHEVROLET 739".
Seems like a rather small number for it to refer to a part number!

At a loss here. I would've guessed early corvette but I have no idea. Gone through Impala, Chevelle, Nova, Tri 5s....come up blank.

    Any help is greatly appreciated

I reckon they are aftermarket Baldwin Motion brand or similar.

    Similar set on ebay:

They can still be purchased today from CP in California

Cheers mate. I just found these a few secs ago....

Not sure who Ansen are, but looks like they're discontinued.

Ansen were aluminium speed part suppliers. They made wheels and other cast aluminium dress up products.
Pretty sure they are just part of CP now. The wheels they made were very, very similar to American Racing Wheels (US Racers) we used during the '70's and '80's.

Don't get caught up with the bowtie casting. These are Baldwin Motions and the centre emblem varied from blank to names to logos. Same is true of most of the manufacturers of alloy rocker covers.

I sold these things for 20 years out of my speed shop.

My old wheels are two us racer and two ansen they are close to look at ie: can't tell the diff so one or the other must have copied and I'm thinking that the covers you have are an old b&m brand ?

If you have a look at that 'speedway motors' link i put up, you'll see they are made by Ansen. Never heard of them till now myself

The 'Motion' covers are super cool

Really like these covers in black though. Just what I was looking for.
