Those tags look like they've been off Seavan - different rivets. Do they match the chassis?
ive looked at the repo ones.... i would say the s is not the same .....the writing is a little different.....the thing most obvious is that the thin out side line that goes around sandman ...it goes further down the letters on the original one.
Yes the tags match the chassis,so Im pretty happy with it. Jeza they dont look like they have been off if you saw them close up but it has the right dash console mount etc etc!
hk1837 why do you say its a 2 stamped over a 3 there is no 3 under the 2 and how do you say its a belmont just out of interest as it has the kingswood strips around the doors?
It could easily just be someone fixing up a stuff-up when the tag was stamped. But given the tags have obviously been removed i'd be a little careful and spend a lot of time making sure all is OK before spending too many $ on it. The main area to check is the tunnel but if the body is original to the tags it won't help a huge amount. You are better off making sure all is sweet now before investing your time, effort and $ on it.
Congratulation's on your find and purchase.

hk1837 forget the stupid question, I had another look at the tags! Still cant see how its a 2 over a 3 though? Jeza came across a honey hole so to speak in pickers terms, just the right place at the right time and yeah lots of looking!

Byron is right, I can definitely see the three over stamped with a two for seating capacity. Nice pick up though, will be a great looking Sandman ute when finished.
Sandman steering wheels are over rated and people ask too much for them. I got a great looking genuine HQ SS wheel off EBay a month or so ago with the original SS badge for $300.... Unfortunately when it arrived though the rim was broken and I had a shit fight with the seller over it.... Reckoned it wasn't broken and refused me returning it for a refund... Fortunately I always pay via Paypal and received a full refund after making a complaint.
there is nothing on the badge to distinguish it from a repro one.... If you have a good original badge to match a repro to side by side the print is slightly different but most probably wouldn't pick it. There have been far too many "Sandman" steering wheels for sale on EBay for them all to be genuine original Sandman wheels..... More likely HQ GTS steering wheels that have had an aged repro Sandman badge fitted......
