So being a 4BBL does that mean it has a different manifold on it now? (2BBL vs 4BBL)
Also, will this carb still be ok to use once all the LPG paraphernalia is removed, or will a dedicated petrol carby be required?
The manifold will be a 4bbl version likely off a Red 308. No problem using that on the 253. Later Blue 253 were factory 4bbl.
The carb on it can probably still be used for just straight petrol as it set up to be used that way now. You just need to remove the LPG system if you don't want it.
How good it is (the carb) is an unknown factor at this stage. You could just replace it with a Blue 253/Rochester carby as it would be suited to the 4bbl manifold already fitted.

Or whatever it is (the carb) might be fine and do the job.

    Thanks for that, much appreciated.
Having never done this stuff before, it will be a learning curve, but that's why I'm doing it, to learn more.
The engine will actually be my last thing on the list to be done.
Having pondered over the van for a while, my first job is to sort the rust.
2nd will be suspension front & rear, steering and brakes.
3rdly will be the engine and transmission.
There will be plenty of things to play with and sort out in between all this though.
The gas is coming out, much prefer straight petrol.

Its a fool proof plan, what could possibly go wrong.....

    Looks to be a 450cfm Economaster #7454.
I sold a few of these for Tunnel Ram set ups back in the '80's
They weren't a huge success or seller. In fact I'd pretty much forgotten about them.

Sad to say nothing has been happening with the van, it is just sitting in the shed as a storage facility, and I cant see anything happening to it in the future as my interests are in another car at the moment.
Anybody looking for a HZ van project???

Is it driveable at the moment?
I'm looking for a project for my 13 year old mate that helps me out in my shop..... he loves vans and his dream is to drive his own one to school when he gets his license.
PM me if you are interested with a price and details and we'll try to work something out.
