The manifold will be a 4bbl version likely off a Red 308. No problem using that on the 253. Later Blue 253 were factory 4bbl.
The carb on it can probably still be used for just straight petrol as it set up to be used that way now. You just need to remove the LPG system if you don't want it.
How good it is (the carb) is an unknown factor at this stage. You could just replace it with a Blue 253/Rochester carby as it would be suited to the 4bbl manifold already fitted.

Or whatever it is (the carb) might be fine and do the job.
