The ZL1 is a crate motor now.....albeit an anniversary model. At approx 30K, its an expensive all aluminum option



Also there is a cast iron block version at approx 15K



The ZZ454 is a better option in respect to hp/$......that said, crate motors are hit and miss at the best of times

Nowhere near the same engine though, oval ports, roller cam etc.

Comparing a modern engine to an old school muscle car engine is like putting Jen Hawkins next to Marilyn. They achieve the same thing in very different ways. My bog standard auto CV8 with my 120kg in it is as quick as a PhaseII or III but no comparison in the driving experience.

After reading a portion of a thread the other day about what engine can fit into said bonnet space and what's legal to fit etc, it made me dream of a list of factory options that I wish had of been available because the equipment was there along with the technology.

Curious to read other forum members points of view on this matter, I mean, some people might say we had more than enough available, who knows?

So, with apologies to the purists here are my couple of thoughts on what should have been factory options on offer for those prepared to pay. lol.

I think GMH should have had a Chevrolet engine choice on offer, I mean, they had done it before with other models and how many Chevy transplants have we all seen?

I think it would have been a way to create another SKU to offer, for want of a better description dare I say sportier?

Also, a 5 speed gearbox. Why? Well, why not lol.

Agreed....the driving experience is chalk & cheese. I'll take the old school bbc over a refined LSA....and yep Marilyn is also my choice

I think i'd actually take Jen Hawkins (especially being a Lake Macquarie girl and all), but I should have used Brooklyn Decker and Jen Hawkins as examples of old school hot vs new school, and i'd take Brooklyn first anyday.
